How to Apply Press On Nails That Last 4 Weeks: Step-by-Step Guide
The biggest question we get at Milo Nails: "How do I make them last?" The secret isn't magic — it's prep. Follow this step-by-step guide and your press ons will stay flawless for up to 4 weeks.

What You'll Need
- Your Milo Nails press on set
- 401 Nail Extension Glue
- Nail file and buffer
- Cuticle pusher
- Rubbing alcohol or nail prep wipe
Step 1: Prep Your Natural Nails
This is the most important step. Remove any old polish and wash your hands thoroughly. Use a nail file to gently rough up the surface of your natural nails — this creates texture for the glue to grip. Push back your cuticles, but don't cut them.
Step 2: Clean with Alcohol
Wipe each nail with rubbing alcohol or a nail prep wipe. This removes all oils and moisture, which are the #1 enemy of press on longevity. Don't skip this!
Step 3: Size Your Press Ons
Lay out all your press ons and match them to each finger. The nail should cover your nail bed without touching your cuticle or skin on the sides.

Step 4: Apply the Glue
Apply a thin layer of 401 Nail Extension Glue to your natural nail — not the press on. Wait 30 seconds for it to become tacky. For extra hold, apply a tiny dot to the press on too.
Step 5: Press and Hold
Starting from the cuticle, press the nail down at a slight angle, then flatten it down firmly. Hold for 30–60 seconds. Don't rush this step.
Step 6: Maintain for Longevity
- Avoid submerging hands in water for the first 2 hours
- Apply cuticle oil daily to keep nails healthy
- Wear gloves for dishes and cleaning
- Avoid picking or peeling — use a wooden cuticle stick to gently lift if needed
Removal & Reuse
To remove, soak your nails in warm soapy water for 10–15 minutes, then gently slide off with a cuticle stick. Store your press ons in the original box and they're ready for round two!
